JV2 Plays Well at Woodsville, Earning a 1-0 Victory

The Hanover JV2 Boys picked up a well-earned 2nd win of the season on a cloudy Thursday night in WoodsvilleBattle-hardened by a string of tough results, the JV2 boys started, played, and ended on the front-foot against their opponents. Simon Taenzer got things started for Hanover with some nice link-up play with Captain Alex Brackett. Though a killer-pass into the box was cut out well by Woodsville. Aaron Nyhan had the match's next chance after the Junior Captain controlled the ball off a corner from Liam Foston, Nyhan skillfully flicked the ball up to himself with his first touch before chipping the keeper with his second, a terrific effort that just went over the bar.

Hanover's early chances had started to slow down by now, and the middle 20 minutes of the first half consisted of a hard-fought midfield battle. Both teams looked to find non-existent space in each other's halves. Woodsville finally managed to find some joy inside the Hanover half and a quickfire shot from 30 yards out bounced just before GK Iver Skogerboe's hands, but luckily rattled off the far post. Hanover had the final chances of the first half with a string of corners that produced two half-chances, neither finding the back of the net for the unfortunate Hanover boys.

The second half began with a quick-attack from Woodsville, but the chance was sent right back the other way through expert defending by Junior Stalwart, Wyatt Sklarin. Sklarin has oozed leadership this season, and with the help of Blake Bouchard, Paul Ashton and Kevin Chou, Hanover has comfortably repelled many more attacks then they've conceded.

The next twenty minutes of the match were largely frustrating for the JV2 boys. Lots of chances fell to their feet, but none were able to be converted. Most notably, Simon Taenzer and Blake Bouchard combined down the right flank before Simon danced his way into the right side of the box, cut back into the center before Will Taylor pounced on the ball and fired it fractionally wide of the post. Wave after wave of Hanover attacks were falling just short, before Liam Foston won possession of the ball in the midfield (for the 100th time this match), scooped it out wide to Taenzer who fired a cross to the top of the box where Aaron Nyhan was already lining up his volley. A firm swing of the boot from Nyhan put the ball just over the reach of Woodsville's seemingly unbeatable keeper and into the back of the net. Last minute of the match, Hanover 1 - 0 Woodsville. JV2 Houdini, Berkely Chamberlain, expertly controlled the final minute of the match, keeping the ball in the far corner of the pitch against 2, 3, 4 Woodsville defenders before the final whistle blew. A great team showing from the Hanover JV2 boys.
