POLICY REVIEW - SHIN GUARDS AND SOCCER SOCKS REQUIRED

 As the season rolls toward the midpoint, is in natural for players to relax a bit with regard to rules, even when they are specifically designed for player safety.  It is a specific Hanover Soccer policy that shin guards and soccer socks are required for all games and practices.  Shin guards are not necessary for warmups and some drills, but no player is allowed to participate in drills which involve tackling and any scrimmage-type activity without shinguards, supported by soccer socks.  The program has ample used soccer socks which we will happily issue to players.  Coaches are specifically asked to not allow improperly equipped players on all four teams to participate in any scrimmage activities.

Friday 4:00 Match For Soccer Quarterfinals

 Hanover will host a quarterfinal NBHIAA Tournament game against upset winner Pinkerton Academy at 4:00 Friday.  Hanover's quarterfinal opponent emerged after #11 Pinkerton's 2-1 victory over #6 Londonderry.   The suggested theme for Friday's game:  "Trick or Treat".  Suggested dress code:  Halloween costumes!  Perhaps everyone should come as Bears, Huskies, Hawks, Trailblazers, and Jalapeños It's the last home game for any Hanover fall team in any sport, and the weather looks favorable.  Here's another reason for everyone to come:  We will be hosting our final Food Drive for the Haven.  We have had wonderful donations of non-perishable food items for the Haven Food Pantry, and this is the final opportunity to donate.  We are particularly interested in having members of the JV1, JV2, and Freshman teams join us for the game and bring food items. Hanover Heads to the Semifinals at Stellos Stadium

 Hanover faces its most significant game of the season on Monday, playing Manchester Central in the NHIAA Division One semifinals at 4:00 at Stellos Stadium in Nashua.  The winner will play the victor in an intriguing Nashua North vs, Nashua South matchup in the second game of the doubleheader.  The venue is a familiar one for Hanover.  They have played twice this year at Stellos, once when they lost 1-0 to top-seeded Nashua South, and more recently when they staged their miracle comeback against Bishop Guertin. Hanover is also quite familiar with Central, who beat them 1-0 two weeks ago, their only other in-state loss this season.  The top three teams in the state have made it to Stellos,  a scenario that has been looming since September, when Nashua South beat both the Little Green and Hanover back to back.  All three teams are evenly-matched. Hanover Season Ends in Championship Final in Penlty Kick Shootout

   Hanover played a brilliant match in the NHIAA D1 Finals, losing to unbeaten, nationally ranked Nashua South in the 11th round of a penalty kick shootout.  Hanover rallied to tie the game 2-2 in the second half and them dominated the two overtime periods, hitting the post late in the second overtime. Nashua South prevailed in the PK shootout to claim their first title, finishing 19-0-1.  They are the first D1 team to be unbeaten since Hanover did it in 2013 with the same record.  The match was played in front of a crowd estimated at more than 2,000 in chilly Stellos Stadium.  The Hanover road crew more than offset the Nashua South home field advantage, and were rewarded by a performance to make them proud.  This was the final match for 11 exceptional seniors.
