Seniors Honored At Varsity Home Finale

 Thursday's Varsity home game with Winnacunnet will give us a chance to honor the seniors on the team (including Manager Eric Tysinger) prior to the game.  We will gather at 3:40 midway through warmups and give each senior the opportunity to present a flower to the parents on hand, giving us the perfect photo op. They have contributed to much to this exciting season, leading in ways large and small.  We are eager to honor them (as well as the Winnacunnet seniors).

Once the Senior Day festivities are finished, we will get down to business playing a very capable opponent .Winnacunnet advanced to the Division One Finals last year, and they are 9-5-1 this season.  If Hanover happens to prevail, they will lock down a third-place finish in the D1 standings, guaranteeing then two home games in the playoffs.  Hanover is already guaranteed a home game in the first round on Tuesday, Oct. 26 (most likely at 4:00, but stay tuned Monday when the pairings come out).  If things go well in the opening round, the  second round is Friday, October 29.  Dress Code: Halloween costumes.

All remaining home games, including Thursday's, provide us with the opportunity to collect food items for The Haven.  Please consider coming with a non-perishable food item, or perhaps a jug of laundry detergent. We are always getting requests for detergent. Players on JV1, JV2 and the Freshman team can bring food items to practices, and the coaches will bring it to school.

Crowdsourcing: We need ball runners for Thursday's Varsity game. Please see if you can find a friend or two who might be willing to help.  If there are any sub-varsity players who aren't practicing, perhaps they could come.  Please ask around!

We're Back in the DR! The 2022 Trip Diary Begins

 Dear Friends and Supporters of DR Projects - This is the first in a series of Blog Posts for the DR Projects trip in April, 2022.  I'm hiding out as part of the 2019 trip blog because I am not getting along with Blogspot with regard to starting a brand new blog.  We'll make sure that everyone finds their way to this one!  After two successful trips in 2019 (the one chronicled here below and the one led later in the year by Frank Perotti), we had big plans for our next trip in 2020, with the particular goal, of continuing the reading program at the Altagracia elementary school in Cotui.  Everything was in place:  we had seen the curriculum in action, we had two dedicated teachers, and we had a cadre of volunteers ready to take things to the next level.  On a larger scale in the DR, our ally and inspiring role model Juan Valdez, was making significant progress in his visionary goal of helping every underserved child in his country to learn English. Hanover Season Ends in Championship Final in Penlty Kick Shootout

   Hanover played a brilliant match in the NHIAA D1 Finals, losing to unbeaten, nationally ranked Nashua South in the 11th round of a penalty kick shootout.  Hanover rallied to tie the game 2-2 in the second half and them dominated the two overtime periods, hitting the post late in the second overtime. Nashua South prevailed in the PK shootout to claim their first title, finishing 19-0-1.  They are the first D1 team to be unbeaten since Hanover did it in 2013 with the same record.  The match was played in front of a crowd estimated at more than 2,000 in chilly Stellos Stadium.  The Hanover road crew more than offset the Nashua South home field advantage, and were rewarded by a performance to make them proud.  This was the final match for 11 exceptional seniors.
